Overview
What to expect
Commercial work is about timing and disruption. A restaurant cannot close for two weeks. A medical practice cannot have fumes in the waiting room. We work with small builders and business owners we know personally, scheduling around trading hours and staging the job so your business keeps running while the paint goes on.
What is included
- After-hours and staged scheduling available
- Low-VOC paints suitable for occupied spaces
- Spray and roll capability for large surfaces
- Experience with hospitality, retail and office fit-outs
- Charles Sturt University, Orange City Council, Percy's Bar and Kitchen
- Public liability and workers compensation insurance

Why people in the Central West choose Murrays Painting
Over 50 years in the trade
Over fifty years in the trade. There is very little John has not already seen go wrong on a house, which is mostly what experience buys you.
John quotes it and supervises it
He prices the job himself and checks the preparation before a topcoat goes on, with Ron running the crew on site. The same two people from the quote to the last coat.
Preparation comes first
Most of the work happens before any colour appears. Sanding, filling, priming and sealing are what decide whether the finish lasts three years or fifteen.
Dulux and Porters materials
Premium paint on every job, with oil-based sealers on woodwork. Cheaper products cost less on the invoice and more on the repaint.
12-month workmanship guarantee
Twelve months on labour and materials. If something is not right in that time, John comes back and sorts it out.
Licensed, insured, reviewed
NSW licence 155166C, public liability and workers compensation, and a five star rating on Google from customers across the Central West.

I've used John and the team at Murrays Painting on several projects now and have always been very happy with their work. The quality is consistently high, they're punctual, reliable and communication is always great. As a builder, it's important to have trades you can trust, and I'd have no hesitation recommending Murrays Painting.
John and his team painted the exterior of my two story commercial building in Orange, plus some internal painting as well. Overall I am very happy with the quality of the jobs.
John and his team are reliable, efficient and good to work with. Together, they share a depth of experience, and get the job done right. All Starr Constructions.
We are repeat customers and have once again been extremely happy with the quality of work and service provided. We recently had both the interior and exterior of our home painted, and the results were outstanding. The attention to detail was exceptional, and the quality of the workmanship really shows in the finished product. The entire team was professional, friendly, respectful and a pleasure to have around our home. They took great care throughout the job, kept everything tidy and ensured every detail was finished to a high standard. There's a reason we chose to use them again, and we wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future.
John and his team did an amazing job of a very complex project. Their quote was extremely reasonable compared to other quotes received. Their attention to detail throughout the project was impeccable. The work involved a total repaint, both externally and internally, of a very large timber double storey historic residence. The final magnificent result of their many months of labour are a reflection of their understanding and pride for their profession.
John Murray's crew were excellent, very reliable, trustworthy and easy to have around my home. They did a fantastic job with the interior and exterior of my terrace house and finished the work on time and budget. I would highly recommend them and confidently refer them.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Usually, yes. John has worked on university campuses, schools, council buildings, aged care and retail, where staging the work around the people using the building is normal. What that looks like on your site is worth a conversation rather than a promise made here.
Public liability and workers compensation. If your site needs specific documentation before anyone starts, ask John and he will tell you what he can provide.
No. John comes out, looks at the job with you and gives you an estimate on site, a written quote, or both. He handles every quote himself rather than sending someone else. On jobs far enough out that they need travel or a night away, those costs are quoted as part of the job so you can see them.
Every job carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee. John inspects at the preparation stage, which is where most problems are still cheap to fix, and again at the end. If something needs attention after that, call him.
Around $500 excluding GST. Below that the setup and travel usually cost more than the work is worth, and John will tell you straight rather than quote you something silly.
It depends on the surfaces more than the size, which is why there is no price list here. John prices per room, per hour, per square metre or per day depending on what suits the job, plus materials. The only accurate answer comes from him seeing it, and that visit is free.
