Services / Commercial Painting / Orange

Murrays Painting are commercial painters based in Orange, NSW 2800, and have worked on education, government, aged care, retail and hospitality buildings across the Central West for over 50 years. Recent and past commercial work in Orange includes the Charles Sturt University campus on Leeds Parade, Orange City Council community centres, Kinross Wolaroi School, Catherine McAuley Primary School, the Commonwealth Bank branch, Harris Farm Markets and Percy's Bar and Kitchen. Commercial work here is less about the painting and more about the sequencing, because almost every building we paint in Orange stays open while we are in it. That means staged areas, after-hours access where it is needed, clear signage and safe reinstatement at the end of every shift. All work is quoted in writing, supervised by John personally, and carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Why people in Orange choose Murrays Painting

Over 50 years in the trade

John has been painting since 1978. There is very little he has not already seen go wrong on a house, which is mostly what experience buys you.

John is on your job

He quotes it, he supervises it, and he checks the preparation before a topcoat goes on. You are not handed to a crew you never met.

Preparation comes first

Most of the work happens before any colour appears. Sanding, filling, priming and sealing are what decide whether the finish lasts three years or fifteen.

Dulux and Porters materials

Premium paint on every job, with oil-based sealers on woodwork. Cheaper products cost less on the invoice and more on the repaint.

12-month workmanship guarantee

If something is not right in the first year, John comes back and fixes it. In writing, on every quote.

Licensed, insured, reviewed

NSW licence 155166C, full public liability, and a five star rating on Google from customers across the Central West.

What this work involves in Orange

Home base. Australia's Colour City. Federation homes, heritage conservation areas and modern estates across the city.

Painting a building that cannot close

A school still has students in it. A campus still has classes. An aged care home still has residents who live there and a supermarket still has customers walking through the door. In Orange that is nearly every commercial job we quote, so the programme matters as much as the price. We work in sections, cone and sign the areas we are in, keep an alternative route open, and leave every space walkable and safe before we go home. Tactile ground surface indicators, exit paths and fire equipment all get protected and reinstated rather than painted around badly. It is slower than an empty building and it is the only way this work can honestly be done.

Stair nosings, line marking and the safety side of the job

A lot of commercial painting in Orange is not decorative at all. Stair nosings need a clear visual edge on every tread, car park bays and ramps need line marking that survives a Central West winter, and plant rooms and loading docks need coatings that stand up to traffic. Nosings in particular wear faster than any other painted surface in a building because every single step lands on them, so they need a product and a preparation that suits the substrate rather than whatever was in the shed. We picked out the main pedestrian stairs at the Charles Sturt University Orange campus in a full spectrum of colours, which reads as a design feature and does the safety job at the same time.

What the altitude does to a commercial exterior

Orange sits at 862 metres and the frost season runs five to eight months of the year. On commercial buildings that mostly shows up in the trim. Fascias, gutters, parapets and window frames move with the temperature swing and fail years before the walls do, which is why a cream brick building here often needs nothing but its trim redone. Exterior work is timed around the frost window, because a coat applied to a surface that drops below curing temperature overnight will not form a proper film no matter what it cost.

Working for builders

A good share of our commercial work in Orange comes through main contractors rather than direct from the building owner, and that is a different discipline again. It means hitting a date on someone else's programme, working around other trades on the same floor, and being off site when we said we would be. Peter O'Brien Constructions and A&P Parkes Construction have both put us on projects here. If you are a builder looking for a painting subcontractor who will not hold up your handover, that is the part of the job we take most seriously.

We are repeat customers and have once again been extremely happy with the quality of work and service provided. We recently had both the interior and exterior of our home painted, and the results were outstanding. The attention to detail was exceptional, and the quality of the workmanship really shows in the finished product. The entire team was professional, friendly, respectful and a pleasure to have around our home. They took great care throughout the job, kept everything tidy and ensured every detail was finished to a high standard. There's a reason we chose to use them again, and we wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future.

John and his team did an amazing job of a very complex project. Their quote was extremely reasonable compared to other quotes received. Their attention to detail throughout the project was impeccable. The work involved a total repaint, both externally and internally, of a very large timber double storey historic residence. The final magnificent result of their many months of labour are a reflection of their understanding and pride for their profession.

FAQ

Questions we get in Orange

If your question is not here, call John directly. He would rather have a conversation than send you to a page.

Yes. A good deal of our commercial work in Orange is done after hours or in staged sections precisely so the building can keep operating. We will talk through the sequencing at the quote and set the programme around your opening hours rather than ours.

Yes. We have worked on the Charles Sturt University campus on Leeds Parade, Kinross Wolaroi School, James Sheahan Catholic High School and Catherine McAuley Primary School. Education work brings its own requirements around access, supervision and keeping wet work away from students, all of which we build into the programme.

Yes. Stair nosings, car park bays, ramps, kerbs and safety delineation are all part of what we do on commercial sites. They are usually quoted alongside the general painting rather than as a separate visit, which works out cheaper than bringing someone back for it.

Yes. We carry public liability insurance and hold a NSW Fair Trading contractor licence, and we can provide certificates of currency, SWMS and any site-specific documentation your builder or facilities manager needs before we start.
