Overview
What to expect
A fresh interior changes the way a room feels. We sand, fill and gap every surface before a drop of paint goes on. Oil-based sealers on woodwork, Dulux topcoats on walls, and a walk-through with John before we call it done. That level of preparation is what separates a paint job from a finish that lasts.
What is included
- Full surface preparation including sanding, filling and gapping
- Oil-based sealer and binder on all woodwork
- Premium Dulux low-VOC paints throughout
- Owner inspection at preparation stage
- Drop sheets and plastic covers on all furniture and floors
- Clean, precise cutting-in on all edges

Why people in the Central West choose Murrays Painting
Over 50 years in the trade
Over fifty years in the trade. There is very little John has not already seen go wrong on a house, which is mostly what experience buys you.
John quotes it and supervises it
He prices the job himself and checks the preparation before a topcoat goes on, with Ron running the crew on site. The same two people from the quote to the last coat.
Preparation comes first
Most of the work happens before any colour appears. Sanding, filling, priming and sealing are what decide whether the finish lasts three years or fifteen.
Dulux and Porters materials
Premium paint on every job, with oil-based sealers on woodwork. Cheaper products cost less on the invoice and more on the repaint.
12-month workmanship guarantee
Twelve months on labour and materials. If something is not right in that time, John comes back and sorts it out.
Licensed, insured, reviewed
NSW licence 155166C, public liability and workers compensation, and a five star rating on Google from customers across the Central West.

What our clients say

We are repeat customers and have once again been extremely happy with the quality of work and service provided. We recently had both the interior and exterior of our home painted, and the results were outstanding. The attention to detail was exceptional, and the quality of the workmanship really shows in the finished product. The entire team was professional, friendly, respectful and a pleasure to have around our home. They took great care throughout the job, kept everything tidy and ensured every detail was finished to a high standard. There's a reason we chose to use them again, and we wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future.
John and his team did an amazing job of a very complex project. Their quote was extremely reasonable compared to other quotes received. Their attention to detail throughout the project was impeccable. The work involved a total repaint, both externally and internally, of a very large timber double storey historic residence. The final magnificent result of their many months of labour are a reflection of their understanding and pride for their profession.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
A single room is a two day job, preparation on day one and topcoats on day two. A full interior runs about six working days. Condition of the surfaces moves that more than the size of the house does.
Generally no. Furniture gets covered with plastic and drop sheets go down over floors, and John works through so the place stays liveable. Nearly all paint is low VOC now, so the smell is a fraction of what it used to be.
Sanding, filling and gapping every surface, woodwork especially, then an oil-based sealer on the woodwork, then undercoat, then topcoats. John inspects at the preparation stage himself, because a fresh pair of eyes always picks up extra.
No. John comes out, looks at the job with you and gives you an estimate on site, a written quote, or both. He handles every quote himself rather than sending someone else. On jobs far enough out that they need travel or a night away, those costs are quoted as part of the job so you can see them.
Every job carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee. John inspects at the preparation stage, which is where most problems are still cheap to fix, and again at the end. If something needs attention after that, call him.
Around $500 excluding GST. Below that the setup and travel usually cost more than the work is worth, and John will tell you straight rather than quote you something silly.
It depends on the surfaces more than the size, which is why there is no price list here. John prices per room, per hour, per square metre or per day depending on what suits the job, plus materials. The only accurate answer comes from him seeing it, and that visit is free.
