Overview
What to expect
Every exterior repaint starts with a wash, because paint will not bond to mould, chalked oxide or the film of dust that sits on a wall out here between rains. It is also worth doing on its own. A washed path, a cleaned driveway or a house front taken back from green to its actual colour can buy a few more years before repainting is worth the money, and John will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.
What is included
- House exteriors, eaves and soffits
- Paths, driveways and paved areas
- Mould and lichen treated, not just blasted
- Pressure dialled back on render and soft timber
- Gutters and downpipes flushed out
- Included as prep on every exterior repaint

Why people in the Central West choose Murrays Painting
Over 50 years in the trade
Over fifty years in the trade. There is very little John has not already seen go wrong on a house, which is mostly what experience buys you.
John quotes it and supervises it
He prices the job himself and checks the preparation before a topcoat goes on, with Ron running the crew on site. The same two people from the quote to the last coat.
Preparation comes first
Most of the work happens before any colour appears. Sanding, filling, priming and sealing are what decide whether the finish lasts three years or fifteen.
Dulux and Porters materials
Premium paint on every job, with oil-based sealers on woodwork. Cheaper products cost less on the invoice and more on the repaint.
12-month workmanship guarantee
Twelve months on labour and materials. If something is not right in that time, John comes back and sorts it out.
Licensed, insured, reviewed
NSW licence 155166C, public liability and workers compensation, and a five star rating on Google from customers across the Central West.
How it works
Pressure matched to the surface, not the machine
A washer set too high strips render, furs up timber and drives water into places it should not go. Most surfaces want less than people assume.
Check the surface
Render, weatherboard, brick and concrete all take different pressure. John sets the machine to the softest thing on the wall.
Treat the growth
Mould and lichen get treated rather than blasted, because blasting takes the top off and leaves the roots to come straight back.
Wash down
Worked top to bottom so nothing runs over cleaned surfaces, with windows, vents and light fittings kept out of the line of it.
Let it dry
If a repaint follows, the surface has to be properly dry before primer. Rushing this is why coatings blister later.

John and his team did an amazing job of a very complex project. Their quote was extremely reasonable compared to other quotes received. Their attention to detail throughout the project was impeccable. The work involved a total repaint, both externally and internally, of a very large timber double storey historic residence. The final magnificent result of their many months of labour are a reflection of their understanding and pride for their profession.
